Charles Preston Howes is an Industrial Safety, Security, and Environmental Consultant and Trainer for
Integrated Risk Management Associates (IRMA) of Green Bay, WI (www.irmaassociates.com).
With over 30 years of
experience in the private sector as a manager of industrial safety and security, environmental compliance, technical communications,
manufacturing supervision, and plant management, he now consults with many Northeastern Wisconsin businesses in OSHA CFR 1910
and 1926 compliance and employee training.
Howes has written and published over 50 technical articles and book
reviews. His work has appeared in many technically orientated business and trade publications. Several of his articles are
cited as references in U.S. Patents filed by major American corporations.
Professional engineers and colleagues
have cited Howes for his ability to convert advanced engineering data into clearly written and concise articles for technicians
and laymen. Howes has written about heavy equipment, paper-converting machinery, welding equipment, thermal spray equipment,
surface engineering technologies, industrial safety and security, and many other technical subjects. He has helped foreign
engineers writing English as a second language rewrite conference papers for American audiences, and he has won several Best
Speaker Awards for his technical presentations.
Howes has taught as an adjunct instructor of Technical Communications
at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, and as a substitute teacher for the Ashwaubenon and Luxemburg-Casco School Districts.
A charismatic individual who prefers black-helicopters to BMWs, and field work to office work, he is licensed by the
State of Wisconsin and trained in Industrial Security and Asset Protection by the United States Navy, Pinkerton, the Wackenhut
Corporation, Securitas, and he is a member of the Blackwater Alumni Association. He is trained in Industrial Safety and Environmental
Compliance by Praxair, Inc. Howes has studied Islamic Philosophy, and was graduated cum laude by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee,
College of Letters and Science, in 1974.
He has served on former Green Bay Mayor Paul Jadins Citizen Advisory
Board, and has twice served as a Brown County juror. Howes is honorably discharged from the United States Navy, and currently
serves on the Selective Service Board by appointment of Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle.
